His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder-Acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness

A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (1896-1977) is widely acknowledged as a leading Vedic scholar, translator, and teacher of the modern era. He's known as a significant contemporary authority on bhakti-yoga, the devotional service to the Supreme Person, Sri Krishna, as outlined in the ancient Vedic writings of India.

Followers affectionately refer to him as Srila Prabhupada. He translated and commented on over eighty volumes of the most crucial sacred bhakti texts from the Vedas. This includes the Bhagavad-gita, a concise handbook for understanding the purpose and goal of human life, and the multi-volume Srimad-Bhagavatam, an epic biography narrating the stories of Krishna, His avatars, and His numerous devotees throughout the history of the universe. He is also the founder-acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
